The Music Inside Us

We’re hitting the road! This fall, the Davie County Arts Council will visit every elementary school in the county to read “The Music Inside Us” to our amazing second & third graders.

Every child carries a melody uniquely their own… and “The Music Inside Us” helps them find that.

We’re proud to announce that 200 copies of this book are being donated to Davie County elementary schools.

Our Mission

The Davie County Arts Council is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to the discovery, appreciation and enrichment of the arts throughout Davie County. It all began in 1962 with the mission statement of Connecting PEOPLE to the ARTS! which we proudly continue today.

Brock Performing Arts Center

Along with community outreach programs such as Arts 4 Kids for students, the Arts Council provides performing and visual arts events in its beautifully-renovated Brock Performing Arts Center and Gallery. The “Brock” has earned the reputation for being a premier listening room for acoustical music throughout North Carolina and hosts an annual performing arts series, highlighting music, theatre, dance, and more!Great care is given in selecting quality performers and artists to highlight each year. With intimate seating capacity and wonderful acoustics, our patrons continue to be impressed. Legendary Doc Watson performed on the Brock stage three times. During his last performance in 2010 he told our audience “This is the best listening room in the Triad.”

With its 485-seat capacity (plus five wheelchair spaces), the Brock is in the constant care of the Arts Council and is available for rent by the community, as well as by professional performers. Special rates are offered for non-profit organizations.
